As infants, Margot and I would lie next to each other in the twin baby carriage. Now, she was on the outside...where she could observe the world but I was sheltered and protected, placed under the much more boring hood of the carriage. That's how we were chauffeured around the Berlin Scheunenviertel, the district of the poorer, Eastern European Jews, where my family lived. Everyone knows that a baby carriage is something especially irresistible for mothers of any age, and the Jewish mammes in the Scheunenviertel were no exception. There was one particularly imposing lady, Frau Strasberg, who constantly bent over me with expressions like "Oh, how sw-e-e-e-t!" Each time two humongous breasts entered my field of vision, darkened the sky, the air to breathe, the world. No wonder I never enjoyed any sort of desire for female breasts.

I never needed more than that to explain why I like boys more than girls.
